Interview with Hunter March

1. How would you describe your time here at NAHS?
My time at NAHS was your typical high school experience, I wasn’t the cool kid, or a jock or a nerd or anything specific really. I spent almost all 4 years trying to fit in only to realize that I didn’t need to. I could be myself and the right people would find me.

2. What was the most memorable event you experienced at NAHS?
I asked a guest celebrity speaker to prom, she said no because she was an adult and I was a senior in high school but it’s still one of my proudest moments.

3. Who was your favorite teacher and why?
Mr. Gross changed my life. He introduced me to English in a way that was captivating and probably led to my career as a television host and author. I even mentioned him in the Scholastic book I wrote titled “TBH: 51 True Story Collabs”

4. How did your time at NAHS impact you?
NAHS gave me an appreciation and passion for learning that I don’t think anyone thought I’d ever have. It led to me wanting to become a teacher myself, a career I could see myself dabbling back into one day.

5. Did you have any memorable friendships? If so, who? And are you still friends today?
Wish I could give you the reassurance that all my high school friends and I still hang out weekly, but I don’t really talk to anybody from high school. The good news is, we all make new friends and the right ones stay around.

6. What advice do you have for today's Pumas about their education or career pursuit?
Very few people in high school thought I was going to make it in the TV industry, heck I didn’t even realize that’s what I wanted to do. But I found little areas I was passionate in, like video production and hosting, and then forged my own career. You can too but the bigger the dream, the harder you have to work.

7. Is your current career what you originally planned to pursue and why? If not, what was your original plan/dream?
I left high school with the desire to be an English teacher like Mr. Gross where I could change a few dozen students' lives a year. Then when I got an internship opportunity at a YouTube company called Awesomenesstv, I realized I could potentially make the same impact on millions of young people. That led to my TV shows Sugar Rush and Nightly Pop and an audience that I hope I’m making smile every day.
