Volunteers & Observers Policies

  • The Los Angeles Unified School District has developed strict and clear guidelines for its School Volunteer Program, which includes classroom visits by college students. Here are some of the mandates to which Northridge Academy High School must adhere:

  • All volunteers must complete and sign the LAUSD volunteer application. Hard copies are available in our front office or can be downloaded at http://parent-services.lausd.net.

  • All volunteers must submit a TB clearance (expires after four years) along with the volunteer form regardless of number of hours on our campus.

  • The school office staff must check every volunteer applicant through the Megan’s Law database.

  • Every application must be submitted to the Central District offices.
  • The District requires fingerprints for any volunteer who will have more than 16 hours of contact with students per week..

  • Only CSUN students enrolled in partnership programs will be placed at NAHS for observation hours.  Individual requests from individual courses (including Credential Courses) cannot be honored.
  • Teachers, be sure that invited guests provide District-mandated documentation (Volunteer Form; proof of tuberculosis clearance; fewer than 10 hours per week).
  • No walk-in's allowed.  All observation/volunteer placements must be prearranged and cleared through the Main Office.
