Dear New NAHS Students and Parents/Guardians:

Welcome to our Northridge Academy HS Learning Community!  We hope you are looking forward to an exciting and safe new school year!  Our Faculty, Staff, Link Crew, and Student Leadership have made plans to make this a wonderful year for you. As of right now, the plan is to return full time and in- person.

We know that this past year was a very difficult one for all of us, but at NAHS, we will  continue to emphasize learning at high levels as we provide your child with the academic and social-emotional support they will need in order to earn good grades, maintain excellent attendance and conduct as they prepare for college or a career. We have very high expectations for all our students and depend on your help to continue to build our positive school culture. Getting to school and classes on time is essential and this new school year we have changed the schedule to start at 8:30AM-3:37PM on regular days and at 2:07PM on Professional Development (PD) Mondays.  Being on time and prepared to learn every day are the key elements to student success. The 2021-2022 school year begins on Monday August 16, 2021.

Parents are always welcome to visit our Family/Parent Center to get information and ask for assistance.  Leave a message for our Family/Parent Center Director at (818) 700-2261 if you would like to be a volunteer.  Any general questions, please do not hesitate to call the Main Office at (818) 700-2222

 Sincerely yours,

Nidia E. Castro

On Wednesday, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms condemned the attacks on three Atlanta-area spas that left eight people dead, including six Asian women. She added, “Whether it is senseless violence that we've seen play out in our streets, or more targeted violence like we saw yesterday, a crime against any community is a crime against us all.”  NAHS stands against violence to any group. Remember our learning conversation principle of “invite differences and move away from ‘either/or’. Embrace ‘and’.

Have a safe thoughtful Thursday

Welcome Back Pumas!
Although I am saddened to not be starting the year off with you all in person, I know that we will all get through this together. At Northridge Academy we are a wonderful family that supports one another and I truly believe that you all have what it takes to be successful. We are embarking on an unknown journey and will be navigating choppy waters but I am sure that together we will reach our common goal of learning and thriving. This school is simply not the same without each and every one of you here to walk the halls.  I am looking forward to the day we are all able to come together and attend school as we all have known it. Keep your spirits high and know that we are all here to support you every step of the way.
To our lovely, new freshmen, our class of 2024, I know this is not how you ever envisioned starting high school. You are undergoing two transitions- one from middle school to high school, and the other in virtual learning. We are dedicated to providing you with various opportunities to still feel connected to our school, even from afar. We will have clubs and sports for you to partake in and I hope that each and every one of you is able to feel like a true Northridge Academy Puma from the start.
To my upperclassmen, my class of 2023, 2022, and 2021, we are back for another year of learning, and although it is virtual at this time, we will make it through. I know you all miss your friends and your teachers and any other connections you have made on campus. Some of you were on athletics teams and in clubs and I am hoping to get those back in session as soon as we are cleared to do so in a safe manner.
Although we are not physically on campus, I want you all to feel as connected as possible and your teachers, counselors, and administrators will do everything possible to make you feel at home (even though you are already physically there). This year will undoubtedly be a year we will all never forget, but I hope what you all will remember as we reflect back years from now, is the sense of community and support you felt from your school, even while we were physically apart. So, with that said, Northridge Academy Pumas, please log in daily, do your assignments, participate actively, and earn good grades and we will all have a great year.
