  • Joel Sanchez, born and raised in South Gate, California, is a proud alumnus of LAUSD.  He is the youngest of three children raised by parents who emigrated to the U.S. in 1965.  His mother is from Sinaloa, and his father is from Jalisco, Mexico.  As a child of parents with limited English skills, they fostered in him strong beliefs about the importance of obtaining a solid education.  His educational pathway started with Joel being placed in an English Language Development Program during his elementary school years.  Through many years of hard work and focused determination, Sanchez graduated from South Gate High School.  He continued to earn his B.A. in Liberal Studies / EL, and he later received his M.A. and Administrative Credentials from California State University, Northridge.

Mr. Sanchez started his teaching career at Moreno Valley Unified School District as a high school substitute teacher.  He later transferred to LAUSD where he performed the duties of a teacher and many other school roles.  His duties outside the classroom included the positions of Title III Access to Core Coach and Title I Designee.  Prior to joining the Northridge Academy High School family, he served as a Parent and Community Engagement Coach for local districts Central and Northwest.  As a Parent Educator Coach he supported 40 schools with planning, and the implementation of professional development classes for staff and parents in order to support learning and improve student achievement.  He also supported all Title I schools in that same capacity. Joel also serves as an Adjunct Faculty member for the Los Angeles Community College District in their “Dual Enrollment” program.  This curriculum is designed for high school students who are pursuing a career as educators.

Mr. Sanchez considers his most important role to be an advocate in guiding all students toward academic achievement.  As a proud father of three, he understands how important it is for a parent to know that their child is receiving a quality education and the best social-emotional experience throughout their educational paths.
